Great British Muslim Convert Study

Great British Muslim Convert Study

The Convert Muslim Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of the Great British Muslim Convert Study — a major national research project commissioned by us and our partner Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA), conducted by the Ayaan Institute. This study aims to provide the clearest and most detailed picture yet of Muslims who have embraced Islam in Britain.

This work is especially important because, at present, no single institution holds a full and accurate picture of the British Muslim convert landscape. We need better evidence to understand the scale of the convert community, the reasons people embrace Islam, the challenges they may face afterwards, and why some may later drift away. A more accurate picture will help us move from assumptions to informed action.

By completing the survey, you will be contributing to a landmark piece of research that can help strengthen support for converts across Britain. The findings will help organisations, communities and leaders better understand real experiences on the ground and shape practical responses that are rooted in evidence, compassion and lived reality.

Your voice matters. Every response helps build a more reliable national picture of the strengths, needs and experiences of British Muslim converts.

The goal isn’t just to understand conversion -

it’s to improve how converts are supported across the UK

All information will be handled with strict confidentiality and in line with secure research and data protection protocols.

We would also be grateful if you could share this survey with other converts and relevant community contacts, so that the study reflects as wide and representative a picture as possible.

If you are a Mosque or Convert Care Organisation supporting new Muslims, please participate in our study by completing an online form: https://organisations.gbmcs.org/

Jazakum Allahu khayran for your support and participation.
