Andrew Barson

Andrew Barson was born and raised in Leicestershire and as such enjoys the country way of life. He converted to Islam in 2009.

Andrew studied Psychology at the University of Sheffield and completed his Social Work MA at Warwick. He worked at Leicestershire County Council as a Mental Health Support worker and a social worker before finally becoming a Local Area Coordinator in 2017. Andrew now works in the Ashby de La Zouch area, providing Information and guidance and community development support.

Andrew became involved with the New Muslim Project as a volunteer from 2013, assisting with several projects, as well as attending the events at Markfield. He has gone on to facilitate and run workshops as part of the transformation process of the New Muslim Project and has been a continued contributor throughout the setup of The Convert Muslim Foundation with a keen interest in supporting the mental health and spiritual well-being of converts.

Andrew’s interests include Lego building, writing and woodwork, but also volunteering. He enjoys being involved in local projects and volunteers at a local feed for the homeless.
